Head to head

Jobber vs Housecall Pro for service contractors

Both are field service tools for home service trades with published prices and 14-day free trials. Jobber's entry plan is cheaper and its tiers scale by user count; Housecall Pro packs more users into its middle plan and puts job costing on every tier.

For a one-person shop that mainly needs scheduling, quotes, and invoices, Jobber Core is the cheapest of the two at $29 a month prepaid annually or $49 month to month. For a crew of 3 to 5 that wants QuickBooks Online sync, Housecall Pro Essentials ($149 a month billed annually, 5 users) matches or beats Jobber's 5-user Connect plan and costs less than 5-user Grow at regular rates. Housecall Pro also includes job costing on every plan, while Jobber adds it at Grow. Both publish their pricing, both offer a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and both were checked on the vendors' own pages in October 2026.

Who each one is for

Jobber says it serves home and commercial service businesses in more than 50 industries, with cleaning, construction and contracting, electrical, HVAC, handyman, landscaping, lawn care, painting, plumbing, pressure washing, roofing, and tree care called out. Housecall Pro's pricing page describes a community of more than 30,000 home service pros and lists features like flat-rate pricing, service plans, and route optimization that point to recurring service trades.

Neither is a project management tool for multi-month construction jobs. There is no submittal log or AIA pay application in either feature list. They are built for a plumber running six calls a day, not a GC running a $2M build-out. If your work is mostly projects, look at plumbing software or HVAC software guides for tools that blend both.

Pricing, plan by plan

Jobber publishes four plans and prices most of them by user count. Regular month-to-month list prices: Core $49 (1 user); Connect $139 for 1 user, $199 for 5, $299 for 10, $399 for 15; Grow $199, $299, $399, $499 at the same user steps; Plus $499 for 5, $599 for 10, $699 for 15. Committing to a year (billed monthly) or prepaying annually lowers each figure; prepaid annual starts at $29 for Core, $99 for Connect, $149 for Grow, and $399 for Plus. Extra users are $29 a month. Jobber also runs introductory discounts for the first few months, so check the current offer on the page.

Housecall Pro publishes three plans. Basic is $59 a month billed annually or $79 monthly with 1 user. Essentials is $149 annually or $189 monthly with 5 users. Max is $299 annually or $329 monthly with 8 users, and extra users on Max are $35 each. Housecall Pro also shows short introductory prices.

Here is a worked example. Say an HVAC company has an owner, an office manager, and three techs, so five users, and it wants QuickBooks Online sync and job costing. On Jobber that means Grow at 5 users: $299 a month with no commitment, or $229 prepaid annually. On Housecall Pro it means Essentials at 5 users: $189 monthly or $149 billed annually. Grow does include extras like two-way SMS, automatic time tracking, and custom workflow automations that may matter to you, so compare features, not just totals.

Features that separate them

  • Job costing: Housecall Pro lists it on Basic. Jobber adds it at Grow.
  • QuickBooks Online: Jobber at Connect; Housecall Pro at Essentials.
  • Routing: Housecall Pro lists routes on Essentials and route optimization on Max.
  • Flat-rate pricing and service plans: Housecall Pro lists flat-rate pricing on Essentials and recurring service plans on Max, useful for maintenance agreements.
  • Automation: Jobber's Connect adds automated reminders and quote and invoice follow-ups; Grow adds custom workflow automations and two-way SMS.
  • Marketing: Jobber includes a website builder on Core and sells a Marketing Suite add-on ($99 a month, included on Plus). Housecall Pro lists campaigns and websites as add-ons without published prices.

Add-ons and hidden costs

Jobber publishes its add-on prices: Marketing Suite $99, AI Receptionist $29, and Pipeline $49 a month, all included on Plus. Housecall Pro lists add-ons such as CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Voice, Campaigns, GPS and dashcams, and Websites, but shows no prices for them, so ask for a quote on any you need. Card fees matter more than most owners expect. On $60,000 a month of card payments, a 0.3 point difference in rate is about $180 a month. Push larger invoices to bank payments where you can. Strengths and limits

  • Jobber strength: lowest entry price, published add-on prices, and plans that scale in clear user steps.
  • Jobber limit: job costing waits until Grow, and the plan grid has many price points to sort through.
  • Housecall Pro strength: job costing on every plan and 5 users included on Essentials.
  • Housecall Pro limit: add-on prices are not published, and Max caps at 8 users before $35 per extra user.

Who should pick which

  1. Solo operator watching every dollar: Jobber Core.
  2. Crew of 3 to 5 wanting job costing and QuickBooks: Housecall Pro Essentials usually prices lower; trial both.
  3. Maintenance-agreement HVAC or plumbing shop: Housecall Pro Max for service plans and route optimization, or compare with ServiceTitan vs Housecall Pro.
  4. Landscaping, cleaning, or lawn care company wanting marketing tools: Jobber, especially Grow or Plus.
